Machida Shoten’s Authentic Ramen — Now in Araneta City!

There’s something about a good bowl of ramen that just hits the spot — and when I saw that Machida Shoten Japanese Ramen had opened a new location at Farmers Plaza in Araneta City, I didn’t need much convincing to check it out—I was there on opening day. (Talk about perfect timing.)

I’ve always turned to ramen as a go-to comfort meal, so I’m constantly on the lookout for places that might become a regular stop, and while ramen is clearly the star of the menu, the store also offers donburi, sushi, and a range of starters for those wanting a bit more variety.

    First Impressions

What caught my attention right away was the addition of spinach. It’s not something you usually see in ramen, but it brought a refreshing balance to the richness of the dish. I actually ended up liking it more than I expected. Instead of the traditional tamago, it came with a quail egg, adding a fun twist without straying too far from the familiar. But you can request for the usual tamago if you prefer that.

    The Broth & the Experience

As for the broth — thick, flavorful, and indulgent. It felt a little on the heavier side, but honestly, I enjoyed it more than what I’ve had at many other ramen places. The staff initially missed the nori sheets, but they quickly gave me some and adding them completed my ramen experience.

I also tried the bukkomi rice, where plain steamed rice is mixed into the leftover broth. It was my first time eating rice with tonkotsu broth and it felt like eating… lugaw — warm, hearty, and a great way to make sure none of that broth goes to waste.

For a first visit, it was a pretty satisfying experience! The standout for me was definitely the spinach paired with that deep, creamy tonkotsu broth. I can already tell I’ll be back for another round soon. Visit Machida Shoten Japanese Ramen now at Level 2 of Farmers Plaza, Araneta City.
